Winburg 251km

For the second race of the Carnival Lofts Winter Series, 513 pigeons from 111 fanciers were liberated at Winburg for a 251km journey back to the Heidelberg loft.

The birds started in the crisp Free State morning air under partly cloudy skies (8°C–11°C), facing an 18–22 km/h North headwind. Midway, temperatures reached approximately 14°C with 24–28 km/h gusts driven by an approaching western cold front. The race concluded under hazy, partly cloudy conditions against a steady 14–16 km/h North to North-Northwest headwind.

Top 10 Fanciers

Herman Bohm claimed the win with ODRA 25 4745, achieving a velocity of 1134.83 m/min. R & R & Thone's 'Smokestack' followed in second, ahead of Team Oberholster's 'Slammer' in third. Hot Rod Racing's 'Skyrocket' took fourth, with Durban OLR Champs' 'Mias' completing the top five.

Andre & Juan's ODRA 25 2216 landed sixth, followed by Roberto & Boesman's 'Leona' in seventh. Bela Vista's OERF 25 10161 took eighth, M & Y Klingbiel's ZA 25 206923 ninth, and Badenhorst Hokke's ZULU 25 4361 rounded out the top ten.

Fancier of the Race

In the Carnival OLR Race 2, 52 out of 111 competing fanciers qualified for this ranking by meeting the minimum requirement of basketing at least 4 pigeons.

Rankings are based on the percentage of a fancier's basketed pigeons placing within the top 5% of the race (the top 25 out of 513 total entries), with ties broken by the highest average velocity of those top finishers.
