Diaz OLR Race 4 Winner: Koos Botha & 'Humble' Victorious
Victory for Koos Botha
The Port Elizabeth fancier has taken victory flowers in Diaz One Loft Race 4 from Kokstad 440km. 'Humble' is bred out of 'Tough King', a cock linked to proven breeders on the highest level, and out of a dam carrying an Andre Carelsen, Tomlock R80 000 Pair and Gaby Vandenabeele cross that has already produced federation winners.
A Season Already Building Momentum
Botha is no stranger to the top of the sheet this season. He currently holds the ranking of PE Fed Short Distance Champion after Week 6 of the 2026 season. Diaz OLR Race 4 now becomes one of the more significant results of his season so far.

Diaz Race 4 Kokstad 440km
Liberated at 07:30 into a clear 3°C morning with only a light 6km/h northwest breeze, the race broke early. A pack of 14 pigeons pulled roughly five minutes clear of the main group. Conditions at the loft the sat between 16 and 18°C, with a 12km/h northwest breeze and 25 to 35 percent cloud cover, ideal racing conditions that rewarded quality pigeons. 'Humble' clocked 1246.56mpm to secure outright victory over the full 440km race, confirming a performance built on more than favourable weather, a pigeon carrying a bloodline made for exactly this kind of test.

'Humble' is bred out of 'Tough King', a pigeon whose own family has already proven itself at the highest level. 'Tough King' is a full brother to 'Ursula', owned by R.A.M. Annandale, 'Ursula' is the dam of 'Salvo Rose', 2nd Ace Brown Jacket Afrikapro 2025, with results of 1st, 6th, 10th and 13th against an average of 2,100 pigeons before selling for R550,000. 'Tough King' himself is a direct son of 'Turf Queen', 2nd National Ace Allround South Africa in 2021 and a double BPF Federation winner, with 5 x Top 2 BPF Federation & combine positions across her career. The line traces back to original breeding work by JJJ van der Linde, built on a Tomlock and De-Rauw Sablon cross, a combination with a long record of producing super performers.

ZA OP 7591 2021
'Humble's' dam carries a pedigree just as considered. She was bred from an Andre Carelsen cross involving the R80,000 Tomlocks and the Gaby Vandenabeele lines, a three-way cross that has already produced a double BPF Federation winner for FJ Meyer, Bloemfontein, evidence the family reproduces quality rather than producing a single standout. The dam is also a direct daughter of 'Oom Bouts Pied Cock', a proven super breeder whose offspring have gone on to win at both federation and union level, a name that carries weight wherever it appears in a pedigree.

What Comes Next
With five weeks of federation racing already banked and a Diaz OLR victory now on the board, Botha's 2026 season is building real momentum and looking like the early chapters of a season worth following closely.
