Gys Louw claimed victory in the Karoo Million Hotspot 4, a 522km race from Kroonstad , with 637 pigeons basketed from 162 fanciers. Kruger Familie was named Velocity News Fancier of the Race, while Lorenzo Doyle led the Top 10% Follow Up Ranking.
Race Conditions
Liberation at Kroonstad came under clear, freezing highveld conditions, with temperatures between -1°C and 2°C and a light southwest to south-southwesterly breeze around 9.3 km/h. Zero cloud cover gave the pigeons excellent visibility from the outset.
By the midpoint near the Free State–Karoo interior, temperatures had climbed to 10–13°C as the wind swung to a north-northwesterly tailwind of 9.3–15 km/h, giving the birds a strong push toward Cradock under mostly sunny skies.
Arrival conditions in Cradock were mild, with temperatures of 18–20°C, a northwesterly breeze of 15–19 km/h, and cloud cover under 20%.
Top 10 Arrivals
Gys Louw's 012 Karoo Million 2025 took the race win at 1672.10 m/min. Second went to Theo - Stan & Chris's 2271 NPS 2025, ahead of Lorenzo Doyle's 1425 GHT 2025 in third. Mark Van Tonder placed fourth with 795 Karoo Million 2025, and Loft Einkamerer took fifth with 'Maddison 69'. Kruger Familie's 'Gold Fever' finished sixth, followed by Piet Van Zyl's 19 PVZ 2025 in seventh. Loft Einkamerer doubled up in eighth with 'Dwight Double 136', with Ninja Lofts' 2518 VPU 2025 ninth and Coenie & Willie Span2's 384 Karoo Million 2025 rounding out the top ten.

Of the 162 fanciers who competed in the Karoo Million Hotspot 4, 59 met the minimum eligibility threshold of 4 pigeons basketed and qualified for the Velocity News Fancier of the race ranking.
Ranking is based on Efficiency: the percentage of each fancier's own basketed pigeons that finished inside the top 5% of the race — position 31 of the 637 pigeons basketed in this race. Fanciers with fewer than 4 pigeons basketed are excluded. Ties are broken by average velocity across that fancier's top 5% finishes.
Three fanciers tied at 20.00% for fourth through sixth, separated on velocity — Theo - Stan & Chris, Piet Van Zyl, and Jaxaru Stud in that order. A further tie at 12.50% between Benn & Bailie and Pennington Loft for ninth and tenth was broken the same way.
