By the 10:54 mid-race mark near the Bloemhof/Hoopstad region of the Free State, temperatures had risen to 13-15°C under fine, sunny skies with isolated high cloud, while a stronger northerly breeze of 15-18 km/h worked as a side-headwind. Pigeons arrived into Krugersdorp under completely clear skies, 16-17°C, and a light, variable easterly breeze of 4-6 km/h, giving a clean line of sight into the lofts for the finish.
