Smith Fourie OLR Report: Team Phillips Double's Up In Race 6 Worcester 598km
Race 6 598km, Team Phillips claimed the race win, while JJJ leads the Velocity News Fancier of the Race performance. Austin Powers takes Pigeon of the Week, while Team Phillips also leads the Follow Up Ranking and the Ace Pigeon Ranking to round out the week.
Worcester 598km Race 6
Race 6 sent 152 pigeons from 29 fanciers competing out of the Smith Fourie One Loft on the 598km leg from Worcester in the Western Cape.
Liberation took place at 07:40 under clear, crisp skies and a light southerly to south-easterly breeze of 8-15 km/h, with temperatures between 12°C and 14°C as the birds cleared the mountains out of Worcester. By the midway point near Beaufort West, conditions shifted sharply, with temperatures climbing into the mid-20s and strong, gusty southerly winds sweeping the central Karoo. Skies stayed mostly fine through the interior before afternoon cloud built from the south. Arrivals into Golden Valley came through a warm 28°C to 30°C afternoon, with fresh south-westerly to westerly winds of 20-35 km/h and partly cloudy skies.
Top 10 Arrivals
Team Phillips claimed the win (his second win of the season) at 1370.83 m/min, leading Smith Fourie OLR's Race 6 home. Austin Powers followed in 2nd. JJJ claimed 3rd with 'Superman'. Jackie + Paul took 4th, with Coenie Pieterse close behind in 5th. Gregg Rippon came home in 6th, with Coenie Pieterse's second bird following in 7th. Jackie + Paul claimed 8th, and a third Jackie + Paul pigeon completed 9th. Team Phillips rounded out the top 10 with a second bird in 10th — the entire top 10 arriving within 34 minutes of the winner.

Genetics Behind The Podium
Team Phillips sits on a super pigeon with ZA25-OP-6731! Currently won 1st 1st 2nd and 4th positions in the Smith Fourie OLR season.
On the father side is one of South Africa's most successful fanciers in Ferdie Lubbe from Mountain Lofts, with a long and rich history in our sport and recent world class performances at Afrikapro's 2025 season. The father to Race 6's winner was a top performer in the tough Diaz OLR, winning 11th Final Greytown 635km 1182mpm and also placing 5th and 11th (both occasions equal 1st).
The dam to Race 6's winner is off international bloodlines from PIPA Elite Centre, she is a full sister of 1. Ace Sofia OLR (also 6th Final) bred out of a son of 'PRINCE PORSCHE X MARIA (G. Van De Wouwer)' when mated to direct son 'BEST KITTEL' paired to a direct daughter 'DANIEL', both of these names are top in Belgium National Sprint Ace Titles.

In Smith Fourie OLR Season 2026's Race 6, 15 out of 29 competing fanciers qualified for this ranking by meeting the minimum requirement of basketing at least 4 pigeons.
Rankings are based on the percentage of a fancier's basketed pigeons placing within the top 5% of the race (the top 7 out of 152 total entries), with ties broken by the highest average velocity of those positions.
JJJ is named Velocity News Fancier of the Race, topping the ranking with 11.11% of their participating pigeons inside the Top 5%.

The Follow Up Ranking measures fanciers with the highest percentage of their basketed birds finishing in the top 10% of the race, which means the leading 15 out of 152 pigeons. Team Phillips's ZA-2025-OP-6731 follows closely at 6 minutes and 27.370 seconds (31st at Race 5, 1st at Race 6), while Gregg Rippon's ZA-2025-GHT-1733 completes the podium at 13 minutes and 42.310 seconds (23rd at Race 5, 6th at Race 6).

Team Phillips claimed the top spot with an average velocity of 1385.879 m/min after six races, leading Smith Fourie One Loft's Ace Pigeon Ranking heading into Race 7. Jackie + Paul followed in 2nd at 1365.700 m/min. Coenie Pieterse claimed 3rd at 1356.714 m/min, with Jackie + Paul completing a second top 5 finish in 4th at 1340.782 m/min — and Jackie Pieterse rounding out 5th at 1339.984 m/min.
Looking Ahead
