Race 4 Beaufort Wes 300km
Smith Fourie One Loft's Race 4 was liberated from Beaufort West and flown 300km to the loft at Golden Valley, Eastern Cape. A total of 187 pigeons were basketed across 32 competing fanciers.
Liberation at 08:15 brought fine, crisp conditions with clear skies and temperatures of 6-8°C, giving the birds a clean, unobstructed departure on a light north-westerly drift. By the midpoint over the central Karoo interior near Aberdeen, skies remained clear and temperatures had lifted into the mid-teens, with a light westerly breeze quartering in behind the pigeons on their south-easterly track. Conditions held into the finish at Golden Valley, where clear skies and a light-to-moderate south-westerly breeze met the returning birds under a midday sun
